“It is so much cheaper to live here,” says Jenny Spicer, who along with husband Roy moved to Conway four years ago from Maryland. “We came here from an affluent county where property taxes and so forth made the cost of living really high. Homes here are priced much lower.”

Like so many other new arrivals, Jenny and Roy purchased a home in preparation for retirement after vacationing here for years. “We didn’t want to be as far away from family and friends as Florida would be. We knew the area and loved the weather.” When Roy retired earlier than expected, the couple was beach bound in a flash.
